Celeste Satya has been teaching Yoga in the Squamish area for the past nine years. She is trained in the Hatha and Vinyasa disciplines of Yoga, is continually exploring studies of other branches, including such as Kundalini, Iyengar and Qi Gong.

Along her Yoga path Celeste has had the opportunity to study with many wonderful teachers and mentors including Shiva Rea, Sri. Dharma Mittra and most recently Sarah Powers. Her passion is Insight Yoga –a body/mind yogic path drawing from Yin Yoga, Buddhism, Chinese Medicine and Spiritual Psychology. She is currently embarking on a 2-year, 700-hour program in Insight Yoga with Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Chandra Easton and 12 other prominent teachers.

Celeste has found my yoga practice to be a faithful companion along life’s journey and is grateful for the experiences as both a practitioner and a teacher. Her classes flow through different styles of Yoga disciplines, creating a moving meditation and a harmonizing sense of community.

SHEALAGH KING
Yoga Instructor

Since completing yoga teacher training 5 years ago with Michelle Park at The Yoga Centre in Squamish, BC, I have been fortunate enough to work individually one-on-one with students who were looking for yoga that was both gentle and accessible to those with injury or other impediments to a more intensive practice. Using some elements of Therapeutic Touch (training offered to nurses), I have been successful in supporting individuals in their efforts toward self-healing.
When a local fitness club decided to offer a slot for gentle yoga in order to balance the high energy training happening there, I began a weekly class in 2008.

Ongoing studies in Integrative Yoga Therapy (including research into Ayurvedic medicine), keeps my focus on determining the fit of certain types of postures to the needs of individual students, based on their overall constitution. During drop-in classes, the focus is on detailed postural instruction, breath work and a variety of postures where full support of the core structure is possible. This basic approach to mastering the postures supports the opening of energy channels throughout the body, invigorates proper circulation and improves body awareness, supporting students in their development of a well-balanced and safe practice.

I currently offer regular gentle yoga classes at two local fitness clubs. In my genuine desire to support others in their well-being, I provide simple, forthright instruction that welcomes any level student to the deep relaxation that results from a more focussed, slower paced and peaceful practice.
